Weekly Report 8: 10/19-10/26
Current status of project:
The progress report for the Auto Shade Device was recently turned in. The team analyzed power sources, fabric choices, sensor type, sensor placement, and mechanical design. Pugh analyses were performed for each of these aspects of the design. The Auto Shade Device will be made using polyester as the main UV protective material, be powered by a combination of solar panels and a rechargeable lithium-ion polymer battery, with have a non-fixed light sensor, and will contain a movable canopy design (CAD shown in progress report).
The group is confident that we have chosen the best options for each of these aspects of the device. We are ready to move forward into the final portion of the semester, involving the final report and physical embodiment.
Work planned for next week:
The group plans to deliver an oral presentation on the current status of the project. The group will meet to reorganize and reposition our research toward the goals of the final paper. We will acquire an Arduino from Patricia Widder in order to begin developing code for our prototype. The group will contact the client, Dr. Yin, to set up a meeting designated to discuss client satisfaction following the second report.
Anything needed from client or TA or instructor to continue work:
Nothing at the moment.
